Singapore, 28 September 2018 – This year’s Singapore Accountancy Awards features two new categories – Special Recognition Award and Project Excellence Awards. Organised by the national accountancy body, the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA), and supported by the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority, the Singapore Accountancy Awards, the first of its kind for the accountancy sector, are a mark of excellence for businesses and individuals, while promoting good practices and strengthening the branding of the profession.

The awards were presented at a ceremony held on September 28 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre. Mrs Tan Ching Yee, Permanent Secretary for Finance, was the Guest of Honour.

Special Recognition Award

The Special Recognition Award is given to senior ISCA members who have continued to make significant contributions to the accountancy sector beyond retirement. In view of her illustrious career as well as her contributions to both the accountancy and

non-profit sectors, the judging panel presented the Special Recognition award to Ms Euleen Goh, Chairman of SATS Ltd, this year.

Ms Goh has served in top leadership positions in several organisations, in both private and public sectors. As the founding chairperson of the Accounting Standards Council, she has made important contributions towards developing and promulgating high quality financial reporting standards in Singapore. Despite having retired from the profession in 2006, she continues to contribute actively to the accountancy fraternity and public service.

Mr Kon Yin Tong, President of ISCA, said, “Through Singapore Accountancy Awards, we honour the efforts of organisations and individuals who represent the best of the profession. We are thus pleased to present Euleen, who has made significant contributions to the profession in her long and illustrious career, with the inaugural Special Recognition Award.”

Project Excellence Awards

The new Project Excellence Awards category reflects the new realities of today’s volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous business environment and seeks to recognise innovative finance teams for their ability to transform with the times. Comprising the Best Finance Transformation Project Awards for Private and Public Sectors, the Project Excellence Awards aim to recognise finance teams which have leveraged innovation and technology to improve operational effectiveness and business performance.

Singapore Accountancy Awards 2018

The Singapore Accountancy Awards 2018 comprises three main award categories, the “Business Excellence Awards”, the newly added “Project Excellence Awards” and the “Individual Excellence Awards”.

Commenting on the Singapore Accountancy Awards this year, Mr Kon said “As we enter the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the accountancy profession needs to leverage technology to create transformative growth in this rapidly changing, highly competitive business environment. We introduced the Project Excellence Awards to recognise outstanding finance teams that have harnessed innovation to deliver business results. We congratulate this year’s winners on their achievements, and encourage all members of the profession to continue to strive towards excellence.”
