ISCA Comments on ISSB’s Exposure Drafts on (1) General Requirements for Sustainability-Related Financial Disclosures and (2) Climate-related Disclosures

ISCA commends the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) for its efforts to develop a comprehensive global baseline of sustainability disclosures. This is not an easy task given the varying levels of maturity amongst preparers and users of such information.

Having said that, we provided feedback that certain requirements in the Exposure Drafts are being set too high as a baseline, especially for small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs) which typically play critical roles along the value chain and provide information necessary for larger companies to comply with the proposed disclosure requirements regarding their own value chains. Furthermore, we suggested a few possible approaches to make the Exposure Drafts more adoption-friendly by recognising that sustainability is a journey.
