New members join the Chartered Accountants Worldwide board

23 May, 2022 – Since it’s formation seven years ago, Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW) has gone from strength to strength. It has grown to encompass 15 Chartered Accountancy bodies across the world – representing 96% of the global profession.

The CAW Board voted unanimously to expand – creating two additional seats that are being filled from among its member institutes, ensuring Chartered Accountants Worldwide continues to offer the breadth and diversity of perspectives that reflect the global impact and relevance of the Chartered Accountancy profession.

We are delighted to announce two new Board members (Dr) Debashis Mitra, President of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and William Mandisodza, CEO of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe. The new Board seats are for a two-year term and will rotate by region at the end of the term.

Says Michael Izza, Chairman of Chartered Accountants Worldwide, of the new appointments: “We are delighted to welcome Debashis and William to the CAW Board.  They represent two important markets and will each bring different perspectives and insights to the CAW Board.  Our organisation has grown exponentially in the past seven years, and it is important that the Board reflects the members we serve. Chartered Accountants are difference makers and as such we must offer our members – and beyond – the breadth and diversity of perspectives needed to make an impact globally”.
On his appointment Debashis said “It is a real honour to be joining the Board of Chartered Accountants Worldwide. I look forward to working alongside the other members to elevate the profile of Chartered Accountants across the world as being invaluable members and advisers of business that are able to make a tangible difference”.

William Mandisodza echoed Debashis’ sentiments: “I am very proud to be asked to join the Board of Chartered Accountants Worldwide and represent the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe. Being part of this unique global family will help to drive forward change in key areas such as sustainability, thus safeguarding the future for generations coming up behind us.”
